Mission Statement

Customs Compliance Consulting Incorporated, founded in 1995, has a single mission. It is to assist businesses in meeting up to date import compliance as required by the Customs Border Protection Agency (Replaced the US Customs Service) and to assist businesses in meeting current export compliance requirementsm of the Bureau of Industry and Security (Replaced the Bureau of Export Administration).

Our company provides the keys to unlock the complexity of establishing a proper compliance program for your business. We offer the tools, the training in their effective use and the ability to show your company how to conduct internal audits. Customs Compliance Consulting Inc. is well versed in NAFTA and other Free Trade Agreements. The company has participated and advised on Customs audits, C-TPAT and Importer Self Assessment. Customs Compliance Consulting Inc. has given many in-house training seminars and has assisted in numerous Classification projects. Seminar topics include Ocean and Air Transportation, Letters of Credit, Import and Export, and Audits. Customs Compliance Consulting Inc. has Export Controls experience, including ITAR and has solid contacts with the Export Assistance Offices in Charlotte and Atlanta.

Founder Bio

Clement Key worked for US Customs for 28 years. During this time, he attended, lectured and later developed numerous U.S. Customs training programs. His career path included Customs Warehouse Officer, Entry Officer, Import Specialist, and Field National Import Specialist. Clement developed and formally suggested the Customs Audit Plan in use today. He determined classification and wrote binding rulings on textiles, tools, machinery and electrical, where he gained broad tariff knowledge. Clement became highly knowledgeable in classification and valuation, which are skills applicable to import and export compliance. During his career, he gained complete and overall knowledge in the broad area of Customs functions. In 1995, Clement retired from the US Customs Service and established Customs Compliance Consulting Inc. Clement has authored several books on Import and Export compliance principles, is a Licensed Customs Broker and is a graduate of Guilford College with a B.S. in Business Management. He also possesses strong accounting and computer skills and has effectively put these to use in his work environment.
